凤凰出版传媒集团始于1953年,总部位于中国南京。经过多年的发展,集团产业领域覆盖出版、发行、印务、影视、文化酒店、文化地产、文化贸易、金融投资、艺术品经营等板块。2019年集团营业收入超185亿元,总资产约550亿元。集团控有凤凰传媒、凤凰股份两家主板以及两家新三板上市公司。旗下拥有10家出版社、1家都市类日报,以及中国体量最大的发行子集团。2019年,子集团凤凰传媒位列全球出版五十强榜单第12位,居国内入选出版企业首位。
集团大众出版位列国内出版业第一阵营,是中国中小学教材第二大出版企业,有4000万学生使用凤凰教材。国家级出版大奖获奖总数位居中国前列。学科网、凤凰云校园、凤凰云计算中心、凤凰职教虚拟实训平台等成长迅速,初步实现数字化转型。
在国际化战略中,集团积极响应中国文化“走出去”战略和“一带一路”倡议,始终聚焦出版主业,统筹内容、渠道、平台、团队和翻译,完善海外布局,加强国际化传播,版权输出和国际合作取得成效。
“十三五”以来,凤凰集团输出非华语版权1500种,较之“十二五”的761种,实现翻番。2019年,凤凰集团荣获中宣部对外推广局 “2017-2018年度图书走出去优秀奖”,在全国集团综合排名中名列第一位。《青铜葵花》实现22国版权输出,并拟向更多国家推广;凤凰传媒自2011年起连续多年荣获“国家文化出口重点企业”称号,荣获“2018中国版权年度最具影响力企业称号”。拥有以翻译出版外国文学为主的译林出版社,其“经典译林”书系,牢牢占据中国40%的世界名著文学市场。旗下以国际出版为主的求真译林出版公司,以合作出版、国际组稿等多种模式,发展与海外著名文化机构的合作。历时30年出版的《海外中国研究系列》已经出版百余种,成为中外思想交流的重要文化参考。
集团与海外30多个国家和地区的著名出版机构保持合作,在美国、英国、澳大利亚、智利、纳米比亚等设立子分公司。密切与国际高端机构和作者联系,推进高层次出版交流合作,与英国伯明翰大学合作成立“莎士比亚出版中心”、“社会医学史出版中心”,与智利天主教大学合作孔子学院,与美国佩斯大学共建中美出版研究中心。每年举办的“作者年会”,成为中国与世界作者、专家、翻译家、汉学家交流的盛会。
Phoenix Publishing & Media Group (PPMG) was founded in 1953 and is headquartered in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.
After years of development, the group’s business has expanded to include publishing, distribution, printing, film and television, culture hotels, culture real estate, culture trade, financial investment, and artwork management. In 2019, the group posted 185 billion yuan (about $27.32 billion) in operational revenue and 55 billion yuan in total assets.
The group has four listed companies under its umbrella – the two main-board companies of Phoenix Media and Phoenix Ltd and two new third-board companies. The group has 10 publishing houses, one city daily newspaper, and the largest distribution group in China. Its subsidiary Phoenix Publishing and Media Inc (PPM) was listed 12th in the 2019 "Global 50" Ranking of the Publishing Industry, the highest ranking among domestic publishers.
PPMG ranks among the leading companies in the mass publication industry and is the second largest publisher of textbooks for primary and secondary schools in the country, with over 40 million students using its textbooks.
PPMG ranks first in terms of the total number of national publishing awards it has received. Its digital platforms such as zxxk.com, Phoenix Cloud Campus, Phoenix Cloud Computing Center, and Phoenix Vocational Education Virtual Training Platform have been developing rapidly and have made the first step in digital transformation.
In terms of global operation, PPMG follows the national strategies of exporting Chinese culture and the Belt and Road Initiative. The group focuses on publishing business by integrating contents, channels, platforms, teams, and translation. With an optimized overseas layout and communication network, the group has yielded fruitful results in copyright export and cooperation.
Since China’s 13th Five-Year Plan, which started in 2016, PPMG has exported 1,500 non-Chinese copy rights, almost doubling the 12th Five-Year Plan’s 761. PPMG’s Bronze and Sunflower has already been exported to 22 countries and will be promoted in more. PPMG has been honored as the “national key culture export company” every year since 2011 and the “most influential company in copyright export” in 2018. PPMG’s Yilin Press is one of the most important professional translation publishers in China. The Yilin Classics series accounts for 40 percent of the market share in the country’s world-famous literature market. Yilin’s international publishing arm Veritas & Mercurius Publishing Co works with overseas cultural institutes by soliciting global contributions and co-publishing opportunities. PPMG’s Overseas Chinese Studies, since its initiation in 1988, has included more than 100 volumes and has become an important cultural reference for exchange of ideas between Chinese and foreigners.
PPMG has set up cooperative relationships with well-known publishing organizations from more than 30 countries and regions around the world, and opened overseas branches in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Chile, and Namibia.
PPMG keeps in contact with international high-end institutes and authors. PPMG and the University of Birmingham jointly launched the Shakespeare Centre in China and the Centre for Research and Publication in the Social History of Medicine. The group also founded a Confucius Institute with Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and established a Sino-US publication research center with Pace University. The “authors’ annual meeting” hosted by PPMG has become an important gathering for authors, experts, translators, and sinologists from around the world.
