内容简介 Synopsis

1843年开埠以来，上海城市近180年的发展史就是一个国际大都市崛起的历史。本书将上海的历史分为三个阶段：1843—1949年，上海开埠到现代市政的建立以及初具国际大都市雏形；1949—1978年，转型为内向型的工商城市以及城市空间的拓展；1978年至今，回归国际大都市并实现超越，从全球化的视角，以城市的发展，即空间的拓展和城市功能的演变为基本线索，选取了上海发展史上具有代表性的事件和历史时期，勾勒了上海由普通的港口城市崛起为国际大都市，经历一段时间的内向工商业发展后，回归多功能国际中心城市和国际大都市定位，并进一步朝向具有全球影响力的卓越的全球城市迈进的历史。

Since its opening in 1843, the nearly 180 year development history of Shanghai has been the rise of an international metropolis. This book divides the history of Shanghai into three stages: from 1843-1949, from the opening of Shanghai as a port to the establishment of modern municipal administration, and the emergence of an international metropolis; From 1949 to 1978, transformed into an inward oriented industrial and commercial city and expanded urban space; Since 1978, Shanghai has returned to an international metropolis and achieved transcendence. From a global perspective, with the development of the city, namely the expansion of space and the evolution of urban functions as the basic clues, representative events and historical periods in Shanghai's development history have been selected, outlining the rise of Shanghai from an ordinary port city to an international metropolis. 作者简介 About the Author

王敏，复旦大学历史学博士，2007—2008年度哈佛-燕京访问学者。曾任上海社会科学院历史研究所研究员，《史林》编辑部主任，现为上海大学文学院教授。主要研究领域为中国近现代史，侧重上海城市史、近代报刊以及晚清政治、思想、人物等方面的研究。以画代话，一抒人生感怀。

Wang Min, PhD in History from Fudan University, was a visiting scholar from Harvard Yanjing from 2007 to 2008. Formerly a researcher at the Institute of History, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, director of the editorial department of Shilin, and currently a professor at the School of Literature, Shanghai University. The main research field is modern Chinese history, with a focus on the study of Shanghai's urban history, modern newspapers, as well as the politics, ideology, and figures of the late Qing Dynasty. Using paintings instead of words to express one's feelings about life.
